Veterinary Regenerative Medicine in Atlanta, GA Stem Cell Therapy & Platelet-Rich Plasma
Pharr Road Animal Hospital is proud to offer alternative therapies to help your companion live a more comfortable and active life. When or if conventional medical treatments come up short or prove to be unsafe for your pet, we can provide them with other options. With regenerative medicine, we are capable of providing stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma therapy to heal inflammation and damaged tissue. These drug-free, minimally-invasive treatments are ideal for patients suffering with osteoarthritis or a nagging joint injury.
We aim to give your pet the quality of life they deserve. Call (404) 237-4601 to make an appointment so we can discuss stem cell therapy as an option for your pet.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is another form of regenerative medicine we offer in Atlanta, GA. But instead of stem cells, we use your pet’s blood platelets and growth factors to treat inflammation and increase healing in the joints. To extract platelets from the blood, we place the sample in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the blood. This plasma has a high concentration of platelets which we will then use for treatment.
What does Regenerative Medicine Treat?
Currently, we use regenerative medicine primarily in pets with osteoarthritis and other orthopedic conditions. For our osteoarthritis patients, we typically combine PRP and stem cell therapy for the best results.
We’re hopeful that we can soon expand our applications for this treatment so we can benefit more of our patients. If you’re interested in knowing more about regenerative medicine and are considering it for your four-legged family member, give us a call at (404) 237-4601!
